Here are some reasons why you should come: Read more... )

Hope Food Pantry Update

A big thank you for all your donations during the Holiday Drive. Hope Food Pantry Austin was able to distribute 30 more turkeys than last year. A total of 150 families were given turkeys and trimmings to help provide them with a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Reminder: Next week is Trinity's First Sunday of the Month food drive. Please take a bag home with you and fill with any canned or grocery item you might have available. Wishing you all a wonderful and safe holiday!!!!!! ~ Stephanie Humphreys, Hope Food Pantry Austin

Thanks for Helping Give to Thankful Families!

Once again, the people of Trinity are making a difference in this community. This November so far we have raised an incredible $1966! Thanks to your generosity, Trinity was able to give Thanksgiving meals to 10 families in need at Ridgetop Elementary School, along with $50 HEB gift cards to help with groceries in the coming month. We are now gearing up to help the same 10 families with Christmas dinners. Every donation in the special offering basket this December will go towards making the Christmas holiday just as wonderful and full of hope as we can for these families.

Request for Visitors

Trinity member Charles Brown's sister has breast cancer that has metastasized to her brain. She is living at The Summit at Westlake Hills here in Austin, and Charles has asked us to put out a request for visitors. If anyone is interested in visiting Diana on Saturdays, please email Charles at c.e.brown@prodigy.net. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of them.

Halloween & All Saints Day

All Saints Day is the celebration of those who have contributed successfully to the creation of the kingdom.  The saints were not perfect, but they were whole, holy, and they were certainly human.  They lived their unique fate with creativity and participated in the evolution of human consciousness.  Such a great feast, as every great feast, is preceded by an “eve” or vigil.  At sunset, we turn toward the coming celebration of the next day.  We launch our celebration of all that is holy with a consideration of all that is “unholy.”

Thank You from the Trinity United Methodist Women!

The Trinity UMW would like to thank everyone who made donations for the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day candle burnings.  A total of $238 was given.  The money was given to two mission programs:  “Nothing but Nets” (a program that provides mosquito nets for help in malaria prevention in Africa), and the Mississippi Choctaw Mission (a mission program in Mississippi that works with the Choctaw Indian Tribe).

Thank You from Hope Food Pantry and Volunteer Opportunities

Wow, what a tremendous response to the "First Sunday Food Drive!”  Thank you very much for all your support in Hope's mission to alleviating hunger in the community.  You are a wonderful, caring group of people.

Volunteer Opportunities:

1) Hope could really use a volunteer (s) to help weight the "First Sunday Food Drive" items.  This is only a once a month commitment and will not take that much time.

2) Hope needs some help preparing for clients on Thursday morning from 8:30/9a.m. to about 10:30/11a.m.  This can be once a month, every other Thursday, etc.  Whatever works with your schedule.  Please email Stephanie Humphreys at
info@HopeFoodPantryAustin.org if you are interested in volunteering.

Thank you!!!  Trinity UMC remains a very strong link to Hope Food Pantry Austin.

General Announcements - 9/17/09

We are excited to announce that we will now be using our blog at www.tumc-austin.livejournal.com (you can also link to it from our website) to keep you updated on all the amazing things going on here at Trinity and around Austin in general.  You will notice that email updates look a little different, utilizing links to the blog to give you additional information rather than including it all in the email.  This will allow you to have immediate notification of important dates and information, while also allowing you to access more information on the topics in which you are interested.

You will also notice a ? symbol by things in both the email and print updates, as well as in the newsletter.  This symbol indicates topics that have more information on the blog. Trinity Events, Austin Area Events, and Trinity Community Connection will all show this symbol, and more information on everything listed under these headers in the updates/newsletter can be found on our blog.

Please give us your feedback on this new method of communication as you begin to utilize it more so that we can continue to improve!
